Wichita Recordings is an independent record label based in London. They've been around now for just over 8 years, and are still putting out quality records. Their most notable signees are The Cribs, Bloc Party, Los Campesinos!, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Les Savy Fav, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Peter Bjorn and John, who did that song about Young Folks, which killed the indie dance floors in 2007. Anyhooooo, we're celebrating them this week as they've recently taken on a new signing in the form of Leeds band, Sky Larkin.

That's right, Sky Larkin have a brand new tune, called Beeline, which is set for release on the 26th January 2009 on Wichita Recordings. The single is another classic Sky Larkin pop song of the most gratifying type. The single is only being released via download and watch formats. Watch formats? I hear you cry! Yes, they're releasing their single alongside the coolest watch I've seen this side of Christmas. If you buy a watch, for a measly £5, then you get a bundle of mp3 goodness for your aural pleasure. I bought the watch last week, and I can't wait for it's arrival in January when the single goes on full release. The beauty of the watch pack however, is that if you buy it NOW...they'll send you a link to download the mp3's NOW, and they're so worth it. It's like Christmas has come early, and to celebrate we're going to listen to that track NOW! If you're like me and decide that you'd like to buy the watch, then here's a heads up for you, as it won't arrive until the 26th January. By then you'll probably have forgotten about it so it'll be a nice surprise. To get your very own Sky Larkin watch click here. The watch aside, Sky Larkin's track Beeline is fantastic and that's why it's our pay off for this week's SRA Approved Label of the Week. Enjoy.

Come On Gang consist of Mikey (guitarst), Trev (bassist) and Sarah (Drums & Lead Vox). They are, in the words of the mighty Zane Lowe, the hottest band in the world today! Okay, so I might be exaggerating a little bit, and Zane didn't actually say that about the band, however they are one of the most exciting bands in Edinburgh, if not the UK right now. Okay, I know what you're thinking....you're featuring another band from Scotland, blah blah blah....but seriously, there's something really special about this band. Also, if any of you read NME last week then you'll see that Scotland has got a lot to shout about at the moment with regards to it's buzzing music scene, and they're finally being acknowledged for it, Edinburgh in particular. Back to the band.......
Come On Gang have been featured on BBC Introducing shows on Radio 1 in Scotland, England and Wales and at the moment they really appear to be going from strength to strength. They played the T Break Stage this year at one of the UK's biggest music festivals, T in the Park, and they recently found out that they're going to be playing at SXSW in the new year. This past year and half as also seen them support bands such as Angus & Julia Stone and Florence & The Machine, as well as the massive Glasvegas. Their debut single, Wheels, made it into The List's Top 20 Songs of 2008 alongside the likes of MGMT, Santogold, Vampire Weekend, The Ting Tings and the Kings of Leon, which the band said felt 'a little odd'. The band have now released their 2nd single Start The Sound through Straight To Video Records, and they've done it as a Split 7” with friends, Kid Canaveral. The band are truly awesome, their live show is an experience and a half and that's why Come On Gang have been given the Student Radio Association seal of a approval this week.
